Background
Acwa Field Services has acquired the steam turbine services business of EthosEnergy in Wrocław, Poland, marking its first entry into the European Union. The deal is part of the company’s plan to expand its technical services business internationally.
The acquisition includes 85 employees, specialist equipment, intellectual property, existing customer contracts and a service backlog. The business will operate as Acwa Field Services Poland. The companies did not disclose the value of the transaction.
The acquisition will strengthen Acwa Field Services’ steam turbine maintenance and engineering capabilities. It will also give the company a wider presence in Europe and help it secure more short-term and long-term service contracts.
Acwa Operations President Matthew York said the deal will give the company greater control over maintenance, costs and reliability. He added that the Polish business brings an experienced team, technical expertise and established customer relationships.
EthosEnergy CEO Ana Amicarella said the sale supports the company’s strategy to simplify its business and focus on its core operations. She said the Wrocław team’s expertise fits well with Acwa’s growth plans.
Acwa Field Services Poland will become part of Acwa’s global group and will serve customers across power generation, oil and gas, industrial manufacturing, independent power producers and government utilities.
Acwa currently manages 111 assets across 16 countries, with assets under management worth about SAR 468.9 billion ($125 billion).
The Poland acquisition gives Acwa Field Services a base in Europe and creates a platform for further expansion across the region and other international markets.
